How these pages are made
32 species pages, each built only from what state and federal agencies, national parks and extension services publish: how to tell the fish apart, where it lives, its legal status and release rules, and every one of our waters whose agency species list names it.
Every fact is our paraphrase of a page published by a government agency, a national park or a university extension service, read on 24 October 2026, with the source beside it and its own words one tap away. Nothing is written from memory, and where no source says something, the page says nothing. “Where to fish” lists only our water pages whose agency species list names the fish; an agency's regional name (Maine's “landlocked salmon”) counts only with a source saying which fish it is. A state or region gets its own page for a species only with five or more such waters. Images are public-domain agency artwork and photographs, or openly licensed, credited under each one.
