The “search retailers” links on our gear checklists send you to a retailer's own site search for that item. Those links may carry an affiliate code. Retailers whose programs we use or may use:

Commission rates vary by retailer and product category and can change. Links to makers, local fly shops, guides, public agencies and report publishers are not affiliate links unless we say so.
Places to stay, flights and cars
Some links earn Legendary Fly Gear a commission at no cost to you. The “Plan your stay” links to Expedia, Vrbo, Booking.com and rental car sites can carry an affiliate code; each sits beside the line “We may earn a commission.” and opens the provider's own search. We don't see or set their prices, and your booking is with them, under their terms. Lodges listed on Legendary Fly Gear are not paid placements.
How checklists are chosen
Checklist items, priorities and specs are editorial: they come from what the trip needs, not from what pays. No retailer pays to be included or to be listed first. If we ever sell a sponsored placement, it will be labeled “Sponsored” and look different from editorial picks.
We'd rather you buy the right thing once. Where local knowledge matters most — flies, flows, access — we point you to a local fly shop.
About estimated prices
Ranges are editorial estimates of typical US retail prices by tier (budget, mid-range, premium), rounded and before tax and shipping. They are not pulled from a retailer feed and are not live prices. Prices change; always check the retailer. Last reviewed 2026-10-12.
What we record
When you use a retailer link we record which retailer, which checklist item and which page — so we know which checklists are useful. We don't record your name, email, IP address or account with these clicks. Retailers and affiliate networks use their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
