More about Bahía de la Ascensión

Bahía de la Ascensión is a saltwater flats fishery in Quintana Roo, Mexico. Mexico's agriculture and fisheries secretariat, in the Diario Oficial de la Federación, sets fishing refuges in it where sport fishing is catch-and-release only (agreement of 12 December 2022). Mexico's National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) names it in its management programme for the Sian Ka'an Complex. This page covers the bay inside the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, fished from Punta Allen on its northern shore.

About this

Nothing on this page grants or implies access: check the agency map, posted signs and landowner permission before you fish. Most waters here need a rod licence or permit and often a beat booking or club ticket; the listing pages under Regulations say which.

About this

Matched on the fish the agencies list for both waters first, then the same water type, an official designation or flagship listing on both, and a similar mapped size where USGS hydrography covers both.

At most two waters per country. A shared fish is a listing, not a promise: presence varies by reach and season.
